Lesley Colognesi brings more than 30 years of experience in education, academic support, and college counseling to her role as Director of College Counseling. A lifelong learner, Lesley often jokes that she loved school so much she never left. She is passionate about helping students discover their strengths, reflect on their growth, and tell their stories with confidence and authenticity.
Before joining College Bound Advising, Lesley served as Director of Academic Services and a college counselor at Beaver Country Day School, where she guided students and families through every step of the college process. With a background in literacy and supporting students with diverse learning profiles, she enjoys helping students turn their experiences, interests, and challenges into thoughtful college lists and meaningful applications.
Lesley began her career teaching literacy and mentoring educators at schools and programs, including Brooklyn Friends School, Neighborhood House Charter School, and the Harvard Literacy Lab. Recently, she has presented on student-centered learning, assessment, and student well-being at conferences including Future Focus, Challenge Success at Stanford University, Big Picture Learning, NEASC, and Miss Porter’s School.
She also serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of The Second Step, an organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence through education, advocacy, and legal services. Lesley feels honored to partner with students and families during such an important time of transition. When she’s not working with students, she loves reading, running, and spending time with her family.
